Michigan Works! Monroe Service Center has partnered with the Monroe County Library System to bring employment services to South County residents! If you need to complete your unemployment registration and/or need job search assistance (the Michigan Talent Bank), we are here to serve you.  

Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Closed 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. No appointment necessary.

The No Worker Left Behind Information Sessions and Career Trax workshops are conducted only at the Monroe Service Center. 


The Michigan Works! Monroe County Employment & Training Department (MCETD) administers a variety of programs, including, but not limited to the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) of 1998, a statewide initiative driven by Governor Jennifer Granholm, No Worker Left Behind (NWLB), Trade Act Program, Community Corrections Program, and the Food Stamp Program.  The MCETD also receives funding for the operation of the Jobs, Education, and Training Program (JET), which recently replaces Welfare Reform/Work First programming.

Job seekers are encouraged to upgrade their skills and hone their job seeking abilities at the MCETD to move forward successfully in Michigan's transitioning economy.  Core employment services are available to any customer through the MCETD, regardless of any eligibility requirements, via a seamless system of co-located workforce development services and community partners.  The Monroe Service Center also partners with various local and state agencies, including Michigan Rehabilitation Services (MRS), Monroe Community Mental Health Authority, Catholic Charities of Monroe County, Inc., Department of Human Services (DHS), Legal Services of South Central Michigan, Family Counseling & Shelter Services, NCBA/Senior Employment Program,  Michigan Commission for the Blind, Monroe County Commission on Aging, Monroe County Community College, Monroe County Health Department, Monroe County Intermediate School District (MCISD) Youth Opportunity Program, Monroe County Opportunity Program (MCOP), Child Care Network, Monroe County Friend of the Court, Unemployment Agency, Job Corps, Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Growth-Veteran's Representative, Salvation Army, United Way - 211, and private sector employers.

The local business community is able to access customized personnel services at no cost through a wealth of resources, such as the Michigan Talent Bank, job fairs, and Business 4 Business Employer Roundtables.   Ultimately, the Monroe Service Center exists to meet their vision, which is "To continuously improve the Workforce Development system that produces a strong labor force with the required skills to maintain and enhance Monroe's economic climate."
