A Mental Health Court is a joint effort between Monroe Community Mental Health
 Authority and the Monroe County Criminal Justice System to address the needs of offenders with serious and chronic mental illness.  Participants are offered a treatment-based sentence, which utilizes judicial oversight as a component of the program.  The MCMHRC coordinates an array of services designed to address the many needs of this population.

The goals of the MCMHRC are:

  • Provide leadership through innovative services.
  • Continuously improve treatment services.
  • Achieve program goals through teamwork.
  • Enhance the quality of life for participants throughout Monroe County.
  • Reduce criminal behavior and decrease incarceration of the mentally ill.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR THE MCMHRC?

 
  • Diagnosis of a serious mental illness
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Resident of Monroe County
  • Clinically eligible for services through Monroe Community Mental Health Authority
  • Voluntarily willing to participate in MCMHRC
