CAREER DEVELOPMENT RESOURCES 

Numerous no-cost resources are available in the One Stop Resource Center.  A telephone can be used for cold calling and follow up calls.  Job seekers can send a resume via fax or by using no cost postage and mailing services.  Copies of resumes are also made at no charge.  Job search books, videos, and additional resource materials are also available.  Job seekers can access information on occupational training opportunities and resources available through various Monroe County agencies.  Computerized self-assessment tools help identify career interests and skills. 

Job seekers can take advantage of personal computers and self-paced tutorials to learn or maintain skills in word processing and Microsoft Office programs. 

Individuals can access a variety of resources in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), such as an adjustable computer table, an alternate keyboard, JAWS text reading, a scanner, and Word Q software. 

CAREER ASSESSMENT & COUNSELING

Job seekers can use skill assessment software to analyze possible careers.  A licensed professional counselor is available to develop a plan of action based on skills and goals.  Referrals to partnering Monroe County agencies are made if necessary to achieve those goals. 

CAREER TRAX/JOB READINESS WORKSHOPS

Staff assists in developing skills critical to an effective job search.  Daily workshops provide a variety of essential job search topics, such as Interview Skills, Resume Writing, Dress for Success, and Writing Cover Letters.
