Monroe County Historical Museum's 2014 Calendar of Events

NOVEMBER: Same open hours and days; registration for Christmas Tree Festival taken now

16th-30th: Christmas Tree entry set-up, wreath drop off during open hours, including Sunday.

20th: "Thirdsday" program, 7:00 p.m: "A 75 year Retrospective of the Monroe County Historical Museum"- celebrate the longevity of the museum tonight and on Saturday (see following)

22nd: Panoka and Deer Walker present Honoring the Elder: Dr A C Ross. Dr Ross is the author Mitakuye Oyasin (We Are All Related) and has served as a Sundance Chief at ceremonies in the Black Hills of North Dakota for over thirty years. 10 am to 12 pm

22nd: Downtown Holiday Parade; Friends of Museum sponsored Museum 75th anniversary and Open House, 2-4:00 p.m. Open late until 7:00 p.m.

27th: Thanksgiving- all sites closed for holiday.

28th: County Holiday- all sites closed.


DECEMBER: Same hours and days; Christmas Tree Festival all month- FREE admission

3rd: Historical Commission meeting, 7:00 p.m. use back door entrance.

13th: Holiday Open House 1- 4:00 p.m. At 1:30 p.m. the youth group MCCC Prelude will perform holiday music under the direction of Catherine Brodie, with accompanist Jane Kruger. Family activities and refreshments available. At 2:30 p.m. experience a Punch & Judy show, with magic by the Amazing Clark (not the Director Clark). Free.

22nd: Special hours: Museum opens at 12 noon.

24-25th: Christmas Eve and Day; all sites closed.

29th: Special hours: Museum opens at 12 noon.

30th: Last day for viewing holiday trees and wreaths.

31st: New Year's Eve- all sites closed.


JANUARY, 2015 Open weekdays & Saturdays 11-5; Thursday to 7 p.m.; Sunday 12-5 p.m.

1st: New Year's Day- all sites closed.

2nd: Christmas Tree and wreath pick up starting at 11:00 a.m.

7th: Historical Commission meeting, 7:00 p.m. use back entrance of museum

10th: Last day for tree and wreath pick up.

18th: County holiday- all sites closed.
