Monroe County Historical Museum's 2015 Calendar of Events

AUGUST The Trading Post & Country Store remain open on Fridays & Saturdays this month

No Historical Commission meeting.

14th: Spirit of '45 at Loranger Square, marking the end of WWII with an evening of big band and swing music, dancing, costumes and more! Free, 5- 10 p.m.

19th: Businesses & Buildings, West of Monroe Street: a program series in conjunction with the City of Monroe Park & Rec. 10:00 a.m. in the air-conditioned museum. Travel back in time, right in your chair with images; bring your own memories! Please call the City Rec dept. or the museum to register.

20th: "Thirdsday" program restart- Remember the Monster! It's the 50th anniversary of the sighting of the Monroe Monster. Remember with us, or learn something anew about Monroe! 7 p.m. Free.

21st: Foodways Fridays at the Trading Post (River Raisin Territorial Park) 12-4. Cooking with a Dutch oven.

SEPTEMBER The Trading Post & Country Store remain open on Fridays & Saturdays this month

2nd: Historical Commission meeting, 7 p.m. Use back entrance to museum.

7th: All Museum sites closed for Labor Day holiday.

17th: "Thirdsday" program: Food Preservation, 7 p.m. highlighting historic preservation techniques.

26th- October 3rd: Special events for French Canadian Heritage Week; watch for announcements, including the return of "Trois Buffons" music and storytelling!



1st: Lantern Tour tickets go on sale at the main museum. Watch for beginning time.

3rd: The Hunt for Loup Garou at the Trading Post site, 1 and 3 p.m. Registration required; group space limited; free. Watch for registration time.

10th: Digging History at the Trading Post site, 12 to 4 p.m. Hands-on activities for Archaeology month; free.

15th: "Thirdsday" Pogram: Archaeology in Monroe o, 7 p.m. Special display of museum artifacts with program.

16-17th: Lantern Tours; pre-paid tickets required. 7:30, 7:50, 8:10, or 8:30 start times.

23-24th: Lantern Tours; pre-paid tickets required. 7:30, 7:50, 8:10 or 8:30 start times.
