Monroe County Historical Museum's 2015 Calendar of Events

20th: Spring officially begins.
23d: "One Book, One Community" events start. The book is "The American Way of Eating" by Tracie McMillan, and events are free. For more information and updates go to www.monroeccc.edu/onebook
25th: Museum at Monroe County Community College as part of Kick Off for "One Book, One Community" event, 6-8 p.m. Stop by our table.
28th: Maple Syrup Day: 12-4:00 p.m. at the Navarre-Anderson Trading Post & Martha Barker Custer Store (River Raisin Territorial Park). In case of flooding, or poor park weather, the program will be at the main Museum, same hours. A local producer will have Monroe county maple syrup for sale!
1st: Historical Commission meeting, 7:00 p.m. use back museum entrance
3rd: Museum Closed for holiday. Open Saturday at 11:00 p.m.
4th: Open regular hours 11-5.
5th: Closed for the Easter holiday.
8th: Spring Break: Public Safety at the museum- stop in from 11-2 one day or each day: details TBA and all events are Free to visitors!
9th: Spring Break: Bicycle Safety Day 11-2 Indoor 'bike Tour', activities & hand outs, with a visit from Scott from 'Jack's Bicycles' at 1-2:00 p.m; free coloring books at that time.
10th: Spring Break: Fire Safety Day with the Monroe Township & city of Monroe Fire Departments, including a visit with their fire engine, program and hand-outs. Starts at 11:00 with the fire engine.
16th: "Thirdsday" program: Henry Lievens & Beekeeeping, 7:00 p.m. Mr. Lievens is our County Board Chairman. This will be an introduction to the folklore of the tradition and the practical focus of beginning beekeeping, starting a new hive, and maintaining a colony. Free.
18th: Foodsways of Early Michigan, Navarre-Anderson Trading Post complex, 12-4 p.m. Learn more about assorted foodways with demonstrations and information.
MAY Michigan Month- celebrate our great state!
