Monroe County Historical Museum's 2016 Calendar of Events

MAY Opening of the River Raisin Territorial Park (Navarre-Anderson Trading Post site and Martha Barker Country Store museums,12-5 p.m. Friday and Saturday)

4th: Historical Commission meeting, 7 p.m. use museum back entrance.

6th: Ag Day, staff at the Fairgrounds.

6th: Country Store & Trading Post sites open, 12-5 p.m.

7th: Country Store & Trading Post sites open, 12-5 p.m.

9th: Museum and Archives closed due to floor cleaning. Will reopen on Tuesday the 10th.

Special dates, "Rendezvous on the Raisin" kayaking and education at the Trading Post, in conjunction with the River Raisin Battlefield. Contact the museum or battlefield for information on this limited event.

 

JUNE River Raisin Territorial Park open 12-5 Friday & Saturday. "Rendezvous on the Raisin" kayaking and education continues. "Foodways Fridays" on 2nd and 4th Fridays at the Trading Post, 1-4 p.m.

1st: Historical Commission meeting, 7 p.m. use museum back entrance.

4th: Territorial Michigan Foodways, River Raisin Territorial Park, 1-4 p.m.

15th: First "Tales by Twilight" storytelling at the Trading Post starting at 7:30 p.m. with S'Mores.

20-22nd: Civil War "Camp Monroe" at Ellis, Trading Post, and Nike Park (by registration through the library-  bit.ly/campmonroe); for students who have completed 4th through 6th grade.

 

JULY River Raisin Territorial Park open 12-5 Friday & Saturday. "Foodways Fridays" on 2nd and 4th Fridays at the Trading Post, 1-4 p.m.

4th: All sites closed for the holiday.

6th: tentative scheduling for Historical Commission meeting, 7 p.m. use back museum entrance.

16th: Toledo War Day, 1-4 p.m. at the Trading Post complex.

 

AUGUST River Raisin Territorial Park open 12-5 Friday & Saturday. "Foodways Fridays" on the 2nd & 4th Fridays at the Trading Post, 1-4 p.m.

3rd: Historical Commission meeting, 7 p.m. use back museum entrance.

19th & 20th: Archaeology in August at the Trading Post, 1-4 p.m.

24th: Second "Tales by Twilight" storytelling at the Trading Post starting at 7:30 p.m. with S'Mores.
