OCTOBER: Hours: Monday through Sat. 11-5, Thursdays late to 7; Sunday 12-5. Can register for Christmas Tree Festival from mid-month.
1st: 1814 Lantern Tours: Old French Town Nights tickets go on sale at 10:00 a.m. Adults $10, Child $5, under 5 years FREE, though some material may be inappropriate for younger children. Reservations are a must; presale only, none available at door. It's a sell-out each year, reserve early!
1st: Historical Commission meeting cancelled- next meeting in November
2nd: Celebrate French-Canadian Week with the "Trois Buffons" with an evening of music and storytelling at the museum, 7:00 p.m.
3d: French-Canadian movie sponsored by the Quebec Government Office in Chicago: "Un reve americain" ("An American Dream") at 7:00 p.m. In French with English subtitles. Follow a French musician uncovering the French still in America.
5th: Museum open after Woodland Cemetery tour- time? Pre-sale tickets for tour- see Chris in Archives.
6-12th: Custer Week, throughout Monroe. See Monroe County Library website for their events. Custer posters on sale in the museum Gift Shop (limited quantities).
7th: Tuesday Custer Week program, well-known Custer scholar Fr. Vince Heier on "Custer in Comics" at 7:00 p.m.
16th: "Thirdsday" program, World War II veteran Percy "Pat" Zimmerman and an unusal school research project with teacher Adam Sakel. 7:00 p.m.
17-18th: Lantern Tours: Old French Town Nights- by presale tickets only.
24-25th: Lantern Tours: Old French Town Nights- by presale ticket only.
NOVEMBER: Same open hours and days; registrations for Christmas Tree Festival taken now
5th: Historical Commission meeting, 7:00 p.m. use back door entrance.
11th: Veterans' Day- all sites closed for holiday.
14th: Christmas Tree Festival registrations due today.
16th-30th: Christmas Tree entry set-up, wreath drop off during open hours, including Sunday.
22nd: Downtown Holiday Parade; Friends of Museum sponsored Museum 75th anniversary and Open House (info coming).
27th: Thanksgiving- all sites closed for holiday.
28th: County Holiday- all sites closed.
DECEMBER: Same hours and days; Christmas Tree Festival all month.
3rd: Historical Commission meeting, 7:00 p.m. use back door entrance.
13th: Holiday Open House 1- 4:00 p.m.
24-25th: Christmas Eve and Day; all sites closed.
30th: Last day for viewing holiday trees and wreaths.
31st: New Year's Eve- all sites closed.
JANUARY, 2015 Open weekdays & Saturdays 11-5; Thursday to 7 p.m.; Sunday 12-5 p.m.
1st: New Year's Day- all sites closed.
2nd: Christmas Tree and wreath pick up starting at 11:00 a.m.
10th: Last day for tree and wreath pick up.
18th: County holiday- all sites closed.
