Monroe County Parks and Recreation


The County's parks are open to the public from April through October.  We start taking reservations for parks on March 1st.  You may come into the Monroe County Finance Department, 2nd Floor at 125 E Second St., Monroe, MI 48161 to make your reservation.  It is on a first come first serve basis.  A fee of $30.00 is required to reserve a pavilion and you will receive a permit for that pavilion. You may make your reservation online by going to the Online Services page.

Our office hours are 8:30 A.M. to 5:00 P.M., Monday thru Friday, our office can be reached at 734-240-7250.

Now available to rent is the Loranger Square Pavilion in downtown Monroe. See the Loranger Square Pavilion link on the left.

Monroe County 5-Year Recreation Plan (pdf) 

Sterling State Park is also located in Monroe County at 2800 State Park off of Dixie Highway in Frenchtown Township.  The park is maintained by the State.  For more information you may call 734-289-2715.

Monroe County Parks and Recreation Mission Statement 

It is the mission of Monroe County Parks and Recreation to plan, acquire, develop, and maintain, in cooperation with all interested individuals and groups, a responsive, efficient, and creative natural resource based park and recreation system available to all citizens, composed of a variety of services, park areas and, special facilities that contribute to the well-being of the individual, the family, and attractiveness, social, and economic health of the Monroe County community.
