Concealed Pistol Licenses - Eligibility
Michigan Concealed Pistol and Firearms Laws - Michigan Law governing the issuance of concealed pistol licenses originated in Public Act 372 of 1927. Under this law, the applicant needed to demonstrate “good cause” to obtain a concealed pistol license. This requirement and many other aspects of the law changed on July 1, 2001. Public Act 381 of 2000 eliminated the “good cause” requirement and provided that the Concealed Weapon Licensing Board “shall issue” a license to any applicant that meets certain eligibility requirements.
