Chemical Threats  

Like most areas, Monroe County is vulnerable to chemical emergencies, including hazardous materials incidents and chemical terrorism. For some incidents, residents will not need to take any precautionary measures; for others evacuation or sheltering-in-place may be recommended. Monroe County Emergency Management maintains warning systems to alert the public to disasters of all types.
