Tobacco Information

The Monroe County Health Department offers several services and programs that are committed to eliminating exposure to tobacco smoke. Our goals include:

  • Working to ensure clean, smoke-free air is an amenity for all to enjoy by reducing exposure to second-hand smoke
  • Reducing youth addiction by increasing preventative interventions
  • Assisting members in the community who are struggling with tobacco addictions by providing resources that will encourage them to quit

Smoke Free Air

On May 1, 2010, Governor Jennifer Granholm signed into law the Dr.  Ron Davis Smoke Free Air Law which effectively declared Michigan a smoke-free state. The law protects Michigan residents and visitors from exposure to secondhand smoke in all restaurants, bars and businesses. For more information on this, please visit: www.michigan.gov/smokefreelaw

For questions about compliance, please call the toll-free phone number: (866) 59SMOKE or (866) 597-6653
