Monroe County Youth Center
Diorama 2009
Residents are building another diorama for the Monroe County Historical Museum. Last summer residents constructed a diorama of the Battle of the River Raisin in the war of 1812. This diorama has been on display at the historical museum and the Battlefield Visitor Center.
This year's diorama is Col. Norman Hall's defense on Cemetery Ridge, in The Battle of Gettysburg 1863. Supplies for the project have been purchased with donations from Lazy Boy Chair Company and The United Way. We continue to seek donations to cover the expenses for this big undertaking.
Our History teacher Greg Whetstone, will be integrating this activity into his Summer School Class. Mr. Ernest Greer has led the residents in this interesting activity for the last two summers. In his spare time Mr. Greer is a reenactment enthusiast and very knowledgeable in our countries history.
2009 DIORAMA COMPLETED!
This summers Diorama project for the Monroe County Historical Museum has been completed. Both Treatment and Detention residents participated in the project and immensely enjoyed their time in producing an outstanding display. We would like to thank the Lazyboy corporation, United Way and Mr. Greer for their donations towards this project.
