YOUTH CENTER SERENITY GARDEN 2008
In the spring of 2008 we began a project that we envisioned along time ago. We started one of two serenity gardens. This one would be right outside the detention dayroom window. We wanted something nice to look at and a quiet place to have family counseling or group activities. |
Some dedicated staff got some area greenhouses to donate many beautiful plants and trees and in a short time the gardens appeared like they had been there forever. There were enough plants donated that we were able to plant a garden area for treatment residents & an area for staff to enjoy and visitors.

We are running into the second summer and all is flourishing. We are even able to teach the residents how to divide the plants and extend the flower gardens. |
The gardens also provide some-thing beautiful to look out at. Not everyone has the privilege of off ground activities.

Residents assisted with improving landscaping to the front of the building and even to improve the garden for staff and visitors to sit and enjoy or to take a break. The Youth Center Sign even got a facelift with beautiful flowers. |
We had many generous local green houses donate plants and trees to our gardens. They include Lowe's Home Improvement Store, North Monroe Greenhouse, Jacks Lawn Service, State Line Nursery & Landscape, Housel’s Nursery and Landscaping, Clark’s Greenhouse, Lilly’s by the Lake, Snow’s Nursery, 4 Star Greenhouse, Bliss Nursery, Koraleski Greenhouse, Meiring’s Greenhouse & Farms and Tri-County Nursery and Tree Farm. Two beautiful granite markers commemorating the gardens were donated by Granite Design and engraved by Memorial Stone Service. We also want to acknowledge Ford Motor Company for 4 beautiful picnic tables.
