Serenity Gardens 2009
********* *********
In the Summer of 2008, Youth Center residents and staff planted three Serenity Gardens using plants donated by area greenhouses and garden centers. We sat in anticipation all winter waiting to see what would sprout from the ground. This spring we sat in awe at what had bloomed! It is amazing to look out of our day room windows and see nature at its finest. The residents and staff have enjoyed watching everything grow and the wild life it attracts. We have seen some beautiful birds, rabbits and even a chipmunk! We were excited about that! A special thanks to all the generous donors.
A bench was placed in our front garden in memory of Fred Richardson, a former co-worker we all admired and cherished. We purchased this bench with donations from staff here at the Youth Center. Fred had the calm, pleasant personality and was certainly a good role model for residents and staff alike. So a nice bench in a beautiful garden seems to be the place that you might find a man like Fred.
