Monroe County Museum's 2017 Calendar of Events 


Please note historical commission meeting have been changed to the second Wednesday of the month.
Special Exhibits: Two Pandemics That Touched Monroe County through the Fall
200 Objects- celebrating Monroe county's 200th anniversary- some never on display before; through to July, 2018



OCTOBER No Historical Commission meeting this month.

1st: Lantern Tour tickets on sale at the main museum; $10 per adult, $5 per school age child; under 5 free (cash or check only). Tours start at 7:30, 7:50, 8:10.

20-21st: First weekend of Lantern Tours at the Trading Post complex. A few tour openings remain.

27-28th: Second weekend of Lantern Tours at the Trading Post complex.

NOVEMBER Registrations taken for Christmas Tree Festival now

2nd: The Edmund Fitzgerald Investigations by Ric Mixter, 7 p.m. looks into the most famous 1975 Michigan shipwreck. FREE.

3rd: Downtown Monroe First Friday: "Taste of Monroe" 6-9 p.m.

8th: Historical Commission meeting, 7 p.m. use back museum entrance.

16th: Christmas Tree Festival set-up starts. Trees and wreaths need to be in place before December 1st.

18th: Holiday Season Kickoff and Downtown Tree Lighting, 4- 8 p.m. with the tree lighting at Loranger Square at 7:30 p.m.

23-24th: CLOSED for Thanksgiving holiday.

30th: Last day for Christmas tree and wreath set up.

DECEMBER Christmas Tree Festival 1-30th

1st: Downtown First Friday: "Hometown Holiday" 6-9 p.m. Ugly Sweater workshop- bring your own sweater or sweatshirt (or whatever.) We will have some embellishments to make it super ugly! FREE

2nd: Nutcracker crafts in conjunction with the RRCA Nutcracker ballet 1- 4:45 p.m. FREE

9th: Holiday Open House 1- 4 p.m. MCCC children's choir "Prelude" music selections at 1 p.m.
Puppets & magic for all with "The Amazing Clark" at 2:15 p.m. Crafts, activities and light refreshments. FREE

13th: Historical Commission meeting, 7 p.m. use back museum entrance

16th: More music with local group the Frenchtown Fiddlers, 1 p.m. Bring the family and also make assorted paper crafts from 1-3 p.m. FREE

23rd: Saturday holiday crafts 1-3 p.m. Assorted paper crafts for all; FREE

25-26th: CLOSED for Christmas Holiday

30th: Last day for viewing & voting for Christmas Tree Festival.

31st: New Year's Eve CLOSED

JANUARY, 2018

1-2nd: CLOSED for New Year's Holiday

3rd: First day open for 2018 at 10 a.m.
