Monroe County Museum's 2017- 2018 Calendar of Events
200 Objects- celebrating Monroe county's 200th anniversary- some never on display before; through July, 2018
16th: Sturgeons Everywhere! This year's River Raisin Institute focused on a once plentiful local fish, the river sturgeon, and we will be hosting participating schools' creations throughout the museum into May. If you enjoyed the beavers last year, make sure you stop in to see the sturgeons! (Last day May 13th)
28th: Another time to join us at the "Celebrate Children" event at the Mall of Monroe from 10- 2:00 p.m. The focus is on preschool children, and there are lots of freebies and information on opportunities in Monroe
4th: Museum staff at Ag Day at the Monroe County Fair Grounds
4th: Downtown First Friday: "May the Fourth Be With You" 6- 9:00 p.m. Put on your Jedi outfit and side hair buns and come out to celebrate all things 'Star Wars' throughout downtown Monroe
5th: "Sturgeon Saturday" with Gerry Wykes- our museum naturalist will have a program on this fish featured by the River Raisin Institute this year and will have some live fish to see for a limited time on this day only, 10- 12:00 noon.
9th: Historical Commission meeting, 7 p.m. please use the back entrance
22nd: We're at the 2018 Lake Erie Water Festival, grounds of IHM campus (registered school classes only)
28th: Memorial Day Holiday: CLOSED
JUNE Coming this month: Prohibition panels
1st: First open day for the River Raisin Territorial Park (Country Store & Trading Post)
1st: Downtown First Friday: Art Crawl; more info to follow, 6- 9:00 p.m.
1st: Opening of new 2018 image exhibit: "Picture Perfect Pets" look for even more pet-related events to participate in TBA
