Monroe County Museum's 2017 Calendar of Events
15th: Start of the "One Book, One Community" series- see the MCCC website www.monroeccc.edu/onebook for all events, including those at the museum throughout March and April. Read the book "Station Eleven", set in Michigan and join in the fun.
16th: "Thirdsday" program, 7 p.m: Staffer & historian Gerry Wykes presents on the history of President Monroe's 1817 non-visit to his namesake, newly formed Monroe county (us). Gerry's article was published in this month's "Michigan History" magazine, which we will have for purchase at the front desk.
Also from the 16th: the start of a new exhibit "Unseen Enemies: Two Pandemics That Touched Monroe County" exhibit featuring themes from the "One Book, One Community" selection. For a limited time.
21st: Trinity Lutheran Living Museum, 6:30- 7:30 presented by their 5th grade students. Open to all.
25th: Epidemics program, 1 p.m: "We Have Suffered Much- Cholera in 1830s Michigan" by presenter Kendra Anspaugh in conjunction with "One Book, One Community". Free and open to the public.
1st: "April Fish" Day (April Fools) 1- 3 p.m.learn about the French origins of this joke day, and put a fish on someone's back!
7th: First Friday, Downtown: TBA
5th: Historical Commission meeting, 7 p.m. use back museum entrance.
