Employment Services
Trained employment specialists are available at all times to assist customers in their job search and to demonstrate how to benefit by registering on The Pure Michigan Talent Connect. Job seekers can register for work, build a profile, create a resume and view job order listings. This electronic labor exchange also allows employers to enter job orders and search the site for applicants.
Unemployment Insurance claimants can file an unemployment claim via phone or online at the Monroe Service Center. Claimants must register for work on The Pure Michigan Talent Connect prior to collecting benefits.
Resource Center
Job Seekers
Telephones are available to use for contacting employers, setting up interviews and for filing unemployment claims. Free postage is available for mailing resumes and applications to hiring employers. The Monroe Service Center also provides free fax and copy services for all employment related activities. Additional resources include job search handouts, vocational training information, financial aid information, typing tutorial software, Microsoft Office tutorials, labor market information, referrals to community resources and unlimited Internet access for any job search activity. Computers equipped with JAWS are available for the visually impaired.
Employers
Trained and experienced Business Service Representatives are available to assist with entering job orders and screening potential applicants. Employers can receive a personal demonstration on the benefits of utilizing The Pure Michigan Talent Connect. The Monroe Service Center offers a free of charge Business Services Suite to hold hiring events, conduct interviews and complete new employee orientations and trainings. Employers may also want to utilize our licensed counselor to develop or administer pre-employment tests for your company.
Veterans' Services
Many services are available to veterans at the Monroe Service Center including assistance in registering for work, job preparation activities and one-on-one job search assistance. The Pure Michigan Talent Connect provides a 24-hour veteran's preference job search website. Upon request and by scheduling an appointment, a veteran's representative from the State of Michigan Workforce Development can provide additional specialized veteran services.
Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA)
TAA is a federal program of the U.S. Government offering job training and employment opportunities to U.S. workers who lost jobs as a result of foreign trade. A petition filed with the United States of Labor (USDOL) on behalf of affected workers must be approved prior to receiving services. Based on eligibility, TAA services may also include on-the-job training, one-on-one job search assistance, relocation allowance, mileage reimbursement and income support.
