Christmas at the Monroe County Museum returned for the entire month of December featuring our time-honored museum traditions, seasonal exhibits, and classic events. As part of 2021's new offerings we installed a special exhibit entitled 24 Toys to Christmas: An Advent Calendar of Artifacts, each day unveiling a new toy for viewing both online and in person. See the items included in this fun seasonal display on our Museum Facebook page.
Community Decorated Wreaths
Local civic clubs and organizations participated in Christmas at the Museum by submitting a decorated wreath to display in the museum during the month of December. Participants planned their wreath entries around the theme of "The Twelve Days of Christmas" and created special ornaments representing their respective organizations to display on our 12-foot Community Tree. Letters to Santa
We enjoyed once again partnering with Santa to collect letters for him from the children of Monroe County. In all, 131 children's letters were deposited through the special mail slot next to the museum's front entrance, and we sent them off to Santa at the North Pole so he could send each a letter in return.
