MCMHRC At-A Glance

A Mental Health Court is a joint effort between the Monroe Community Mental Health Authority and the Monroe County Criminal Justice System to address the needs of offenders with serious and chronic mental illness. Participants are offered a treatment-based sentence, which utilizes judicial oversight as a component of the program. The MCMHRC coordinates an array of services designed to address the many needs of this population.

The goals of the MCMHRC are:

  • Provide leadership through innovative services.
  • Continuously improve treatment services.
  • Achieve program goals through teamwork.
  • Enhance the quality of life for participants throughout Monroe County.
  • Reduce criminal behavior and decrease incarceration of the mentally ill.

Who Is Eligible for the MCMHRC?


  • Diagnosis of a serious mental illness
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Resident of Monroe County
  • Clinically eligible for services through Monroe Community Mental Health Authority
  • Voluntarily willing to participate in MCMHRC
