Balance (2020) of $3,213, which consists of multiple small deposits from 1990 and prior.
Uncashed, Stale-dated, Returned Checks, or Property Tax Overpayments
Any checks that remain uncashed after 6 months, are promptly investigated, then escheated to the State of Michigan, if the owner does not respond to notifications. You can research their inventory at the Michigan Department of Treasury's website, under Unclaimed Property.
Overbids From Foreclosure Sales, Tax Liens
We do not conduct a Tax Lien Sale in the State of Michigan. Under Michigan law, property is foreclosed for the non-payment of taxes, and becomes the property of the County Treasurer. When the property is later sold, any profit after the taxes, fees, and expenses are paid, is retained by the County Treasurer. There are no Excess Proceeds from a tax sale.
Unclaimed Estates, Missing Legatee Fund
Any deposits that remain unclaimed for more than one year, are escheated to the State of Michigan, if the heir does not respond to notifications. You can research their inventory at the Michigan Department of Treasury's website, under Unclaimed Property.
