Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act

Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA)

The WIOA is designed to help job seekers access labor market information, job leads, education, training and support services to succeed in obtaining self-sufficiency. One-on-one job search, classroom training, on-the-job training, career counseling, case management, and job retention services are available through the WIOA program.

Dislocated workers are individuals in a declining field who have been permanently laid off, or have received notice of termination or plant closure. The program may also serve individuals who are:

  • unemployed due to outdated skills, economic conditions or self-employment
  • unemployed due to jobs lost to import competition
  • unemployed farmers who have lost their farms
  • displaced homemakers

Adults include individuals who are 18 years of age or older. Eligibility for the Adult Program is income based and can be determined after meeting with a staff member.
