Monroe County Museum's 2018 Calendar of Events 

200 Objects- celebrating Monroe county's 200th anniversary- some never on display before; through July, 2018. The Vietnam Veterans Museum at Heck Park is open on Wednesday & Saturday during May- September 12- 4 p.m. On Wednesday a veteran will host the site for your questions!

JUNE this month: Historic Prohibition panels to July 13th

1st: First open day for the River Raisin Territorial Park (Country Store & Trading Post) Thursday, Friday & Saturday, 10- 4 p.m. FREE

1st: Downtown First Friday: Opening of our new exhibit "Picture Perfect Pets" for downtown Monroe art crawl, 6- 9:00 p.m. Watch for more summer events TBA with this theme of well loved pets!

13th: Historical Commission meeting, 7 p.m. Note different locale- at the Whiteford Township Hall, 8000 Yankee Road, Suite 100, Ottawa Lake, MI. Remember, meetings are open to the public.

14th: Reenactor Ed Bundshuh will be at the Trading Post during open hours 10- 3 to interpret the site for visitors. Then stop by the Country Store museum for some nickel & dime candy!

18- 19th: "Camp Monroe" Civil War day camp for boys and girls, in partnership with the Ellis branch library. Details & registration on the Monroe County Library website, or call for availability & information 734 241 5277.

23d: "Picture Perfect Pets" Adoption event, 10- 2 p.m. River Raisin Territorial Park (Navarre-Anderson Trading Post & Martha Barker Country Store sites). Perhaps find a "Forever Friend" among the animals brought for viewing by the Monroe County Animal Shelter.

27th: Summer Historic Monroe Series: Program 1 of 3 "A Residential Driving Tour of Monroe." Morning session is at 10 a.m. and the evening session is at 6 p.m. (same content). Register FREE with the City Parks at your first program. Learn about some of the interesting & historic houses in our city, and some, R.I.P.

28th: Reenactor Ed Bundshuh will be at the Trading Post during open hours 10-3 to interpret the site for visitors. Learn about early Colonial life and fur trade from Ed!


11th: Historical Commission meeting, 7 p.m. Further info TBA.

12th: Reenactor Ed Bundshuh will be interpreting pioneer & frontier life at the Trading Post for visitors 10- 3p.m. Stop by for some history, and buy some nickel & dime candy in the Country Store museum!

19th: "Picture Perfect Pets" event: "Service Dogs" program at the museum; details TBA
