Monroe County Museum's 2018 Calendar of Events
New photography exhibit: "Picture Perfect Pets" located on the second floor- see staff pets as well- it's not just dogs & cats! Through November.
The Vietnam Veterans Museum at Heck Park is now closed, but the grounds are open year-round.
1st: "Great Storms" (of the Great Lakes) presented by shipwreck researcher Ric Mixter, 7 p.m. shown at the theatre next door to the museum, the River Raisin Centre for the Arts; FREE but can give a donation
2nd: Downtown Monroe First Friday: "Day of the Dead" event, 6- 9 p.m. with museum check-in
10th: Last day for viewing "Picture Perfect Pets" photography exhibit
12th: Museum CLOSED for the holiday
14th: Historical Commission meeting CANCELLED due to commission retreat
15th: Christmas Trees & wreaths set up starts weekdays 10- 4:45; Sundays 12- 4:45.
16th: Commission retreat at the Henry Ford
17th: Historical organizations seasonal meeting, 9 a.m.
17th: Native American historian and reenactor Ed Bundshuh presents a program "People of the Three Fires" at 1 p.m.
22nd: Museum CLOSED for the Thanksgiving holiday
23rd: Museum open for day after Thanksgiving!
DECEMBER Christmas Tree Festival Dec 1- 30th
1st: Holiday 'Nutcracker' craft; 1- 5 p.m.
7th: Downtown First Friday: Hometown Holiday 6- 9 p.m. check-in at the museum
8th: Annual Holiday Open House, 1- 4p.m. with entertainment fun, refreshments & crafts; the youth musical group 'Prelude' program at 1 p.m. FREE
12th: Historical Commission meeting, 7 p.m. please use back entrance to museum
24th: Closed for Christmas Eve
25th: Closed for Christmas day
31st: Closed for New Year's Eve
1st: CLOSED for New Year's Day
