Monroe County Museum's 2018 Calendar of Events
New photography exhibit: "Picture Perfect Pets" located on the second floor- see staff pets as well- it's not just dogs & cats! Through November.
The Vietnam Veterans Museum at Heck Park is open on Wednesday & Saturday during May- September 12- 4 p.m. On Wednesday a veteran will host the site for your questions!
SEPTEMBER Country Store & Trading Post complex open for the last month of the summer, Thursday-Friday-Saturday 10-4; FREE. Last summer month open for Monroe County Vietnam Veterans Museum on Wednesday and Saturday, 12- 4 p.m.
18th: Rescheduled Historical Commission meeting, 7:00 p.m. at the museum- use back door entry
24- 29th: French Canadian Heritage Week:
24th at 7 p.m. The Quebec delegation in Chicago present a French-themed movie TBA
26th: The final program in the summer Historic houses program, 10 a.m. or 6 p.m. (same content) FREE
27th: The French Pear: Lore & Legacy" at 10 a.m. or 6 p.m. for French-Canadian Heritage Week
29th: "Hunt for the Loup Garou" at the Trading Post- reservations please 734 240 7780; family friendly "hunt" using clues with your guides, 1:00 p.m.
1-7th: 20th Annual Custer Week; events at the museum & Ellis Library; times & schedule TBA
1st: Tickets go on sale for 2018 Lantern Tours; $10 per adult, $5 per child; under 5 free.
5th: Custer Week Annual Tea at the museum, by paid $15 reservation; 4:00 p.m. Refreshments, entertainment, finger foods and more!
5th: Downtown Monroe First Friday: Zombie Fest 6- 9 p.m. check in at the museum
6th: Custer "Nickel" Tour starting at Ellis library, 9:30- 11:30, reservations only for limiited seating, call Ellis for details
20th: Downtown Monroe Halloween, 12 noon with trick or treating
26-27th: Annual Lantern Tours weekend, by paid reservations. Please note this is one weekend only this year.
2nd: Downtown Monroe First Friday: "Day of the Dead" event, 6- 9 p.m.
10th: Last day for viewing "Picture Perfect Pets" photography exhibit
12th: Museum CLOSED for the holiday
14th: Historical Commission meeting, 7 p.m. please use back entrance to museum
